How Google and Nest data is handled

Purpose and scope

PlaneLocket Home Assistant is a private household application. It connects household-authorized Google Nest devices to a private Home Assistant deployment for home-automation functions. It is not offered as a public service and does not create public user accounts.

Data accessed

After a household member grants permission through Google OAuth, the application may access the Google Nest device information and capabilities covered by those permissions. Depending on the devices and permissions authorized, this can include device identifiers and metadata, current device state, settings, events, and the ability to send device commands.

The application does not access Google or Nest data beyond the permissions granted by the authorizing household member.

How data is used

Authorized data is used only to display device status, operate authorized devices, and support private household automations and notifications in Home Assistant.

Storage and retention

OAuth credentials and integration state are stored within the private Home Assistant environment as needed to keep the authorized integration working. Device data may also appear in Home Assistant history, logs, automations, notifications, and household backups when those Home Assistant features process it.

No fixed retention period is promised by this policy. Retention depends on the household's Home Assistant history, logging, and backup configuration. Access can be revoked through the household member's Google account, and the integration can be removed from Home Assistant. Existing local history or backups may remain until they expire or are deleted under the household's configuration.

Sharing and commercial use

Google and Nest user data is not sold, used for advertising, shared with data brokers, or shared with unrelated third parties. Data is exchanged with Google/Nest and the private Home Assistant environment only as needed to provide the authorized household functionality.

Security

The public website does not provide access to Home Assistant and does not collect Google OAuth credentials. The private application and its credentials are kept separate from this public informational site.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated if the application's data practices or Google Nest integration change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
